October 2015 Visa Bulletin announced that there will now be two charts for employment based and family based categories. Under the dual system, the first chart will reflect early filing dates for I-485 adjustment of status applications while the second chart will reflect final action dates for these applications. As a part of President Obama’s intended immigration reform, the earlier dates in the additional filing chart for many categories mean that the applicants can file their adjustment applications earlier and will be eligible for the secondary benefits available to adjustment of status applicants, including employment authorization documents, advance parole authorizations, and I-140 immigrant petition portability. USCIS stated that it will announce every month whether applicants can use the Dates for Filing Visa Applications chart or the Application Final Action Dates chart to determine when the applicants may file their adjustment of status application.
