U.S. Customs and Border Protection automated the Form I-94 Arrival-Departure Record on April 30, 2013. Travelers no longer receive a hard copy I-94 Form from the CBP officer when entering the US. This requires extra diligence on travelers’ part since they need to make sure that all of the information on the automated I-94 Form was entered correctly by the CBP officer. After entering the U.S. travelers need to visit to access and print their automated Form I-94. The traveler must enter first and last name, date of birth, passport number, country of issuance, and class of admission to access his/her Form I-94. It is very important to verify the accuracy of the information on the automated Form I-94, since incorrect information such as wrong class of admission or an earlier expiration date on an I-94 may cause issues leading to status violation or visa eligibility. According to our experience, the automation process seems to be working without a problem. We would like to remind again that it is travelers’ responsibility to ensure the information on the automated Form I-94 is correct. Therefore we advise that every person traveling on a visa print their automated Form I-94 after each entry to U.S. and ensure the accuracy of the information entered in the form.
